Funding Comes From the Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program Rosen Created After She Successfully Pushed The Administration To Fix The Map That Determines Funding For This Program<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WASHINGTON DC<\/strong> \u2013 Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced she secured more than $416 million to expand access to high-speed internet across Nevada. The funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law\u2019s<\/em> $42 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, which Senator Rosen helped create to provide funding to states to build broadband infrastructure. Last month, Senator Rosen successfully pushed<\/a> the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to update its National Broadband Map to more accurately reflect Nevada\u2019s current high-speed internet coverage and ensure it receives its fair share of BEAD funding. The new version of the map identified nearly 27,000 new broadband serviceable locations across Nevada, in addition to nearly 7,000 new locations without access to high-speed service that were not included in the previous version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInternet connectivity is essential for Nevadans\u2019 daily lives, and I\u2019ve made it one of my top priorities to ensure every household in our state has access to high-speed internet,\u201d dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cAs a result of these successful efforts, I have secured $416 million to connect more Nevadans across our state to high-speed internet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll Nevadans deserve access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet, which is essential for work, education, telehealth and staying connected with loved ones,\u201d said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo<\/strong>. \u201cNow, thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the leadership of Senator Rosen, they are going to get it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Rosen has been leading the fight to connect Nevada households to high-speed internet. Earlier this month, Senator Rosen announced<\/a> in Las Vegas that Nevada received over $43.5 million to increase high-speed internet access throughout the state through the Middle Mile Infrastructure Grant Program. She secured this award through her Middle Mile Broadband Deployment Act<\/em><\/a>, which became law as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law<\/em><\/a>. Senator Rosen helped write the broadband section of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law<\/em><\/a>, securing $65 billion in overall investments to make high-speed internet affordable for Americans, including through the BEAD Program. She also announced that she helped secure $55.2 million<\/a> to connect more than 40,000 households in Nevada to high-speed internet with funds from the American Rescue Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
