The bipartisan legislation, which Senator Rosen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/03\/22\/rosen-scott-introduce-bipartisan-no-corruption-act-to-safeguard-taxpayer-dollars-from-corrupt-politicians\/#:~:text=The%20No%20CORRUPTION%20Act%20amends,related%20to%20their%20official%20duties.\">introduced<\/a> with Senator Rick Scott, would bar Members of Congress from collecting taxpayer-funded pensions if they are convicted of felonies related to their official duties and preventing them from continuing to receive these taxpayer dollars post-conviction by dragging out the appeals process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNevadans sent me to the Senate to fight for them, stand up to business-as-usual politics, and protect their hard-earned dollars from abuse. For too long, loopholes have made it possible for corrupt Washington politicians convicted of felonies to continue collecting taxpayer-funded pensions \u2013 that\u2019s unacceptable,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s why I worked across the aisle to find a commonsense solution to prohibit these corrupt officials from receiving a pension, and I\u2019m glad to see it\u2019s one step closer to becoming law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re a member of Congress and are convicted of a crime involving public corruption you should lose all pension benefits provided to you by taxpayers and hardworking families\u2014period,\u201d <strong>said Senator Rick Scott.<\/strong> \u201cMaking Washington work for American families requires real reforms that end the current dysfunction. We can never stop working to hold elected officials accountable and protect taxpayers\u2019 hard-earned money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The reform in Senators Jacky Rosen&#8217;s and Rick Scott&#8217;s No CORRUPTION Act is a win for taxpayers,\u201d <strong>said Demian Brady, Vice President of Research at the National Taxpayers Union Foundation. <\/strong>\u201cThe commonsense bipartisan legislation closes a loophole in federal law that allows former members of Congress convicted of a crime to still collect a taxpayer-funded pension. We commend Senators Rosen and Scott for their leadership on this good government bill.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current law requires former members of Congress convicted of a felony to forfeit their pensions only after exhausting their appeals, which allows convicted former members to file one appeal after another for years while collecting their taxpayer-funded pensions. The <em>No CORRUPTION Act<\/em> would amend the law to close that loophole so former members of Congress lose their pensions immediately following a lawful conviction of certain felonies related to their official duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen continues to fight for Nevadans and safeguard their hard-earned taxpayer dollars. Earlier this year, Senator Rosen helped introduce the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/01\/30\/rosen-helps-introduce-no-budget-no-pay-act-to-promote-fiscal-responsibility-in-congress\/\"><em>No Budget, No Pay Act<\/em><\/a>, which prohibits lawmakers from getting paid if Congress fails to pass government funding legislation in time for the new Fiscal Year.
