The investigation itself caused widespread cancellations and delays in the U.S. solar industry and threatened to expand harmful job-killing tariffs on solar imports and raise costs for consumers.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seia.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-04\/FINAL%20Auxin%20Impact%20Analysis%202022-04-26_0.pdf\"> The solar industry employs over 230,000 American workers<\/a>, including more than<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seia.org\/state-solar-policy\/nevada-solar\"> 6,000 Nevadans<\/a>. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seia.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-04\/FINAL%20Auxin%20Impact%20Analysis%202022-04-26_0.pdf\">report issued by the Solar Energy Industries Association<\/a>, 70 percent of U.S. companies say at least half of their solar workforce was at risk as a result of this investigation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of last year, Senator Rosen led nine of her Senate colleagues in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/12\/02\/rosen-leads-colleagues-in-statement-on-commerce-solar-tariff-investigation-decision-calls-for-extension-of-two-year-pause-on-tariffs\/\">denouncing the Commerce Department\u2019s preliminary determination<\/a> and the harm that the investigation had already caused to the industry. At Senator Rosen\u2019s urging, the Biden Administration announced a two-year pause on additional job-killing solar tariffs last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNevada has the most solar jobs per capita in the nation, and any action that threatens this industry also threatens the livelihoods of thousands of workers in our state,\u201d <strong>said Senator Rosen<\/strong>. \u201cWhile this decision is narrower than the original petition called for, it will still hurt the solar industry and solar companies\u2019 ability to grow. Let me be clear: this misguided decision is going to directly affect our nation\u2019s solar economy. I\u2019ll continue fighting for Nevada\u2019s solar industry and the good-paying, union jobs it creates.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been a strong supporter of Nevada\u2019s solar industry, leading the charge against solar tariffs for years. Senator Rosen spearheaded a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/03\/09\/rosen-heinrich-lead-bipartisan-letter-urging-commerce-secretary-to-stop-threat-of-additional-tariffs-on-solar-imports\/\">bipartisan letter to the Commerce Department<\/a> to urge Secretary Raimondo to carefully consider the anti-circumvention petition\u2019s validity following the announcement of this investigation. Senator Rosen then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/04\/28\/icymi-during-hearing-rosen-presses-commerce-secretary-to-support-u-s-solar-industry\/\">pressed<\/a> Secretary Raimondo about expediting this investigation at an oversight hearing, and later led a bipartisan group of 21 colleagues in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/05\/02\/rosen-leads-bipartisan-letter-to-president-biden-urging-administration-to-expedite-solar-tariff-investigation-decision\/\">letter<\/a> to President Biden urging him to expedite and bring the investigation to a swift conclusion.
