WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), announced her co-sponsorship of the Expand Navigators’ Resources for Outreach, Learning, and Longevity (ENROLL) Act. This legislation would restore funding for the navigator program that provides families information and support in finding quality, affordable health care plans.
“Making health care enrollment as easily accessible as possible plays a key role in reducing the number of uninsured individuals in our state,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “The Administration’s cuts to this program are a disservice to the people of Nevada who need help navigating their health insurance options and would otherwise benefit from this kind of assistance. I will continue to support commonsense programs that make health care more accessible and affordable for hardworking Nevadans.”
BACKGROUND: This bill would provide $100 million to the Affordable Care Act’s navigator program, which provides enrollment assistance counselors to help people sign up for health coverage. This program has provided critical education to the public about their options, and has reached previously uninsured individuals.
As part of their effort to attack the ACA, the Trump Administration has greatly reduced the funding spent on navigator assistance.
