Rosen, Cortez Masto Introduce Carson City Lands Bill to Expand Economic Development, Improve Conservation Efforts and Public Lands Management in Nevada

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Jacky Rosa (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced their introduction of the Carson City Public Land Correction Act, legislation that would promote conservation, improve public lands management, and expand economic development opportunities in Carson City, Nevada.

“Nevadans recognize the importance of finding common ground between our state’s conservation needs and efforts to grow and develop our communities,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This legislation will provide Carson City with land that can be used to develop future residential areas and improve infrastructure and transportation projects, while also allowing for proceeds of land sales to go towards much-needed educational programs and conservation efforts to protect our outdoor spaces. I will continue working with stakeholders, including our business community and environmental advocates, on commonsense solutions that help Nevada grow sustainably.”

“I’m proud to cosponsor this important lands bill that will help Carson City prioritize infrastructure improvements, spur economic development and fund conservation and restoration projects” said Senator Cortez Masto. “As the coronavirus pandemic impacts everything from our economy to our ability to safely prepare for wildfire season, this legislation will help provide Carson City with the tools it needs to support local businesses and protect Northern Nevada’s natural resources and public lands. I’ll continue to work with Senator Rosen and my colleagues in the congressional delegation to move this bipartisan legislation and protect Nevada’s vital public lands and vulnerable economies.”
