WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after being recognized as one of the most active freshman Senators in the 116th Congress by Quorum, a Washington D.C.-based software company that tracks legislation from Congress:

BACKGROUND: Since being sworn in as Nevada’s Senator in January 2019, Senator Rosen has written and introduced thirty-one bills and three resolutions, over ninety-percent of which have been bipartisan. Two of her bills have been convirtió en ley, while several others have been passed by committees. Rosen has also been a legislative leader in fighting for our veterans, increasing and protecting access to affordable health care, and assisting our small businesses.
Last year, Senator Rosen introduced the Building Blocks of STEM Act, bipartisan legislation to create and expand STEM education initiatives at the National Science Foundation (NSF) for young children, including new research grants to increase the participation of girls in computer science. This bill was signed into law in December 2019.
This year, Senator Rosen introduced the Never Again Education Act, bipartisan legislation to establish a dedicated federal fund to provide teachers with the resources and training necessary to teach our students the important lessons of the Holocaust. This bill was signed into law on May 29, 2020.
Over the last two years, Rosen has introduced six bipartisan pieces of legislation to help our veterans – from creating job opportunities for student veterans and supporting veteran small business owners to breaking down barriers to veterans’ access to VA care, tackling the issue of veteran suicide, and increasing access to affordable housing for veterans.
As one of her first actions in the Senate, Rosen joined Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) in introducing a resolution that would authorize Senate Legal Counsel to intervene in Texas v. United States – a pending lawsuit in federal court, on behalf of the U.S. Senate, in order to defend the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act and its coverage protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
Rosen is also a co-sponsor of the HEROES Small Business Lifeline Act, legislation that incorporates provisions from her bipartisan EIDL for Small Businesses Act, which would prevent the SBA from imposing EIDL loan caps that are less than the program’s statutory $2 million maximum loan size and allow current EIDL borrowers to modify their loan to seek additional funds up to the $2 million maximum loan size.
