WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement applauding actions taken by the Biden Administration to provide much-needed economic relief and support to Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic:
“Today, the Biden Administration has taken concrete steps to provide economic support to the American people as we combat this pandemic,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Today’s executive actions will make it easier for low-income families in Nevada and across our country to access food assistance, restores collective bargaining and other worker protections, and promotes an increase in the minimum wage for many American workers who are facing difficult times. These actions will help improve the lives of countless Americans, but we must do more. Congress must act swiftly to pass coronavirus relief legislation, giving Nevadans a much-needed lifeline of support as we work to beat COVID-19. I will continue my efforts to protect the lives and livelihoods of all Nevadans.”
BACKGROUND: Last year, Senator Rosen was a co-sponsor of the Expanding SNAP Options Act of 2020 Act. This bill would work to address the growing problem of food insecurity in the United States by expanding online SNAP purchasing in all states and creating an online portal to increase low-income Americans’ access to SNAP.
Senator Rosen was also a co-sponsor of the Raise the Wage Act of 2019, a bill that would raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 by 2024.
