Rosen Votes to Confirm Pete Buttigieg for Secretary of Transportation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, released the following statement after voting to confirm the historic nomination of Pete Buttigieg to serve as Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOT).

“Today, I was proud to vote for the historic confirmation of Pete Buttigieg as Secretary of Transportation,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “As our nation’s first openly LGBTQ Cabinet Secretary, Pete Buttigieg is a trailblazing public servant, a Navy veteran, and an experienced leader ready to help us build back better. I look forward to working with Secretary Buttigieg on our shared priorities to create millions of jobs by investing in a modernized infrastructure system, tackling the climate crisis by reducing carbon pollution, and supporting our aviation and tourism industries as we work to fully recover from the pandemic. I also look forward to working with Secretary Buttigieg to support efforts to fund and construct  I-11 so we can finally connect Nevada’s and Arizona’s economies, bring more visitors to the Silver State, and create jobs.”

BACKGROUND: Last week, during a hearing of the Commerce Committee, Senator Rosen voted to advance Pete Buttigieg’s nomination.

Last month, during a Commerce Committee nomination hearing, Senator Rosen spoke with Mr. Buttigieg about the need to support aviation-centric business, restore confidence in traveler safety, oppose the shipment of nuclear waste into Nevada, and construct Interstate 11.
