Rosen-Backed Bipartisan Bill to Honor All-Black, All-Female World War II Battalion Passes Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after the Six Triple Eight Congressional Gold Medal Act, legislation she introduced with Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS), passed the United States Senate. This bipartisan legislation would award a Congressional Gold Medal to the women who served in the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, one of the only African-American Women’s Army Corps units to serve overseas during World War II.

“During World War II, the women of the Six Triple Eight Battalion, including the brave Nevada women who made up its ranks, played a crucial role in the operations of our armed forces,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “I am proud to see that this bipartisan legislation, which gives thanks and long overdue recognition to these barrier-breaking heroes, has passed the Senate. I will continue working to ensure that we honor the incredible men and women who have served our nation proudly.”
