Rosen Applauds Over $600,000 in Grant Funding to Support Clean Air in Nevada

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen released the following statement applauding news that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded the Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability a grant of $655,788 to implement air pollution control programs throughout Clark County.

“Nevada’s air quality is constantly at risk, especially now as our region experiences wildfires and other harmful events that threaten to pollute our air,” dijo el Senador Rosen.Measurements show that Las Vegas has relatively low air quality compared to the rest of the State. This grant funding will help support Clark County’s efforts to ensure a clean and healthy environment for all. I am committed to protecting the health of all Nevadans, and that means fighting to ensure that the air we breathe is free from pollution.”

BACKGROUND: This agreement will provide assistance to the Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability in its efforts to implement air pollution control programs throughout Clark County, including continuing development and implementation of stationary source regulations; continuing promulgation and update of enhanced mobile source regulations; improvement of emission inventories for modeling simulations; and operation of a monitoring network that collects air data. These activities are to improve and maintain the public’s air quality.
