Senator Jacky Rosen to Attend UN Climate Change Conference, Represent Nevada at COP26

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, will join a bipartisan Senate delegation attending the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland this weekend. COP26 is the most important multilateral climate change conference since world governments negotiated the Paris Climate Accords in 2015.

“With Nevada already experiencing extreme heat, increasing drought and wildfires, and poor air quality, the climate crisis presents a serious threat and an enormous economic opportunity where our state can continue to be a national leader in clean energy jobs and conservation,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “At COP 26, we will meet with senior Administration officials leading our climate efforts and foreign leaders from our partners around the world to discuss our shared obstacles and work together toward solutions. This conference is a historic chance to address this urgent global problem, and I’m honored to be part of the bipartisan congressional delegation representing our state and supporting the international effort to fight climate change.”

Senator Rosen will be the only member of the Nevada congressional delegation attending COP26. The goal of the climate change summit is to secure commitments from world leaders to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, consistent with the overarching goal of the Paris Accords. In addition to attending meetings with foreign leaders and high-ranking U.S. climate representatives at COP26, Senator Rosen will participate in a panel event focused on clean energy innovation featuring a bipartisan group of lawmakers and hosted by the Atlantic Council.

Nevada is quickly becoming a national leader in renewable energy deployment and technologies and has tripled its renewable energy production over the last decade. The state has the second-most solar jobs per capita in the country, and also ranks second in the nation in geothermal generation.
