RENO, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), co-chair of the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, released the following statement in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day:
“During the horrors of the Holocaust, six million Jews and millions of others were taken from us,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “We honor the memory of those who were murdered and the bravery of those who stood up against persecution during this evil chapter of history. With antisemetism surging worldwide, including rising Holocaust denial and distortion that threatens the memory of the Holocaust, may their stories serve as a reminder of our duty to fight for a world without genocide and to never forget the atrocities that occurred. Across faiths and across party lines, we stand together against antisemitism and in the pursuit of a more peaceful world – for the survivors, for those we lost, and for future generations.”
In 2019, Senators Rosen and James Lankford (R-OK) launched the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism.
In 2020, Senator Rosen introduced the Never Again Education Act, bipartisan legislation that would establish a dedicated federal fund to provide teachers with resources and training necessary to teach our students the important lessons of the Holocaust. The bill was signed into law in May of 2020.
Last year, the Senate passed a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senator Rosen condemning antisemitism. The resolution recommits the Senate to combating antisemitism in all forms, voices solidarity with those affected by antisemitism, urges the President to take specific actions to address antisemitism, and calls on elected officials, faith leaders, and civil society leaders to denounce and combat all manifestations of antisemitism.
