Rosen Visits Solar Facility in Henderson, Discusses Growing Support for Her Bipartisan Legislation to Repeal Solar Tariffs & Boost Domestic Manufacturing

Last Week, Rosen Introduced Bipartisan Legislation to Repeal Section 201 Solar Tariffs that the Biden Administration Recently Extended

Local and National Organizations Endorse Rosen’s Bipartisan Legislation

HENDERSON, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) visited SunRun in Henderson with the Director of the Governor’s Office of Energy, David Bobzien, to discuss the effects that Section 201 tariffs are having on the solar industry and the growing support for her new bipartisan bill to support Nevada solar jobs. Senator Rosen’s bipartisan Protecting American Solar Jobs and Lowering Costs Act, which she introduced last week, would repeal these harmful solar tariffs that the Biden Administration recently extended while also creating a new federal program to enhance domestic production and manufacturing of solar panels.

Senator Rosen also announced today that local and national organizations have endorsed the bipartisan Protecting American Solar Jobs and Lowering Costs Act. These organizations include the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the American Clean Power Association, and SunRun.

“These harmful solar tariffs are costing thousands of good-paying jobs and are raising the price of clean energy in Nevada and across the country,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “Nevada has the largest solar economy and highest number of solar jobs per capita in the country, and I look forward to working with these organizations to make sure we repeal these harmful tariffs and protect American jobs, while lowering clean energy costs and expanding domestic manufacturing.”

“Nevada is home to the largest solar economy and has the most solar jobs per capita, but these tariffs on solar panels have increased prices and cost jobs,” said David Bobzien, Director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy. “Senator Rosen has been a leader in working to repeal these tariffs and invest in American solar manufacturing. Her legislation would benefit our state and create jobs.”

“We appreciate Senator Rosen and Senator Moran’s consistent leadership on trade issues and American competitiveness,” said Erin Duncan, Vice President of Congressional Affairs for Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). “As the bipartisan bill recognizes, tariffs aren’t the answer. A long-term federal commitment, and not short-term tariffs, will help us grow a sustained and competitive solar manufacturing supply chain, right here in America.”

“I want to thank Senator Rosen for introducing this important legislation,” said Anne Hoskins, Sunrun’s Chief Policy Officer. “More than 80% of jobs in the solar industry are in local, distributed solar, and this bill will enable Sunrun to hire even more workers in Nevada and across the United States.”

Senator Rosen has been a leader in the pushback against solar tariffs, which are costing thousands of good-paying American jobs and raising prices for clean energy. Nevada has the largest solar economy and the most solar jobs per capita in the country. Nearly 90% of workers in the domestic solar industry work in non-manufacturing jobs – from installation and maintenance to operations, distribution, and development – and rely on the availability of affordable solar panels.
