WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced that $1,173,982 in funding they secured will be coming to police departments, emergency response teams, and government agencies in the State of Nevada to support law enforcement efforts and key criminal justice programs.
“Law enforcement works around the clock to keep Nevada families safe, and I’m committed to supporting them in any way I can,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “I’m proud to announce more than $1 million in funding for law enforcement agencies across our state to ensure they have the most up-to-date equipment and technology possible to help them do their jobs safely and effectively.”
“I am proud to have secured this funding to promote public safety and support law enforcement in Nevada,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “These grants will provide much-needed resources and equipment to our hard-working local police. I will continue to work with local partners to keep all Nevadans safe.”
The funding has been allocated as follows:
- $109,106 to help the City of North Las Vegas Police Department update old equipment, including new mobile radios for officers and first responders.
- $72,854 to the City of Henderson Police Department to provide new equipment to the Corrections Emergency Response Team.
- $211,642 to the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to support law enforcement training and to provide new equipment, including updated law enforcement software.
- $780,380 to support Clark County’s efforts to address gang-related crime, substance abuse, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have consistently demonstrated their strong support of Nevada’s law enforcement community. They have repeatedly secured historic funding for the Byrne JAG grant program, the leading source of criminal justice funding in the country. They recently passed bipartisan legislation to crack down on transitional drug trafficking.
