Anti-Jewish Hate Crimes Increased By Nearly Six Percent, Highest Level of Incidents Since FBI Began Reporting
WASHINGTON DC – U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and James Lankford (R-OK), co-chairs of the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, released the following statement in response to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) 2024 Hate Crime Report. The FBI data shows anti-Jewish hate crimes increased in 2024 by nearly six percent from 2023 and included the highest number of such incidents since the FBI began reporting on this.
“All Americans should be deeply troubled by the sharp increase in anti-Jewish hate crimes detailed in this report,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “As one of the co-chairs of the Senate Bipartisan Task Forces for Combating Antisemitism, I remain steadfast in our commitment to work across party lines to root out the scourge of antisemitism. We’ll continue pushing to ensure the federal government keeps Jewish Americans safe from discrimination, violence, and hate.”
“The FBI’s latest hate crime report paints a troubling picture. Jewish Americans continue to be targeted simply because of their faith and heritage in schools, synagogues, and in their own neighborhoods,” said Senator Lankford. “This disturbing trend demands urgent attention. I remain committed to confronting antisemitism and strengthening reporting to fully understand the scope of this threat. By working together, Congress, the Administration, and law enforcement can help ensure that every Jewish American can live without fear.”
Anti-Jewish hate crimes rose from 1,832 to 1,938 incidents from 2023 to 2024. According to the FBI, a total of 16,419 law enforcement agencies, which represent 95.1 percent of the agencies enrolled in the hate crime data collection program, participated in hate crime reporting for 2024.
