WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, released the following statement announcing she was named a Congressional Media Diversity Champion by the Multicultural Media Correspondents Association. Senator Rosen was honored for her work to support greater media diversity and inclusion.
“When we have more voices at the table, we can build a healthier democracy,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This means having people from diverse backgrounds and cultures reporting on every story and bringing to light both the challenges we must address and the opportunities we must create in every community. I’m honored to receive this recognition, and I pledge to continue working to ensure that our newsrooms, production offices, and media boardrooms are reflective of America’s diversity.”
BACKGROUND: Last year, Senator Rosen, along with Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), introduced a bipartisan, bicameral resolution calling for increased diversity in American media. Representatives Val Demings (D-FL) and Jennifer González-Colón (R-PR) led the resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives.
