WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced she has joined with Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) in introducing a bipartisan resolution celebrating the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This resolution introduction comes at the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year:
“Sundown tonight marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and the start of the High Holy Days,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “This is a time to give thanks for the blessings we’ve received, and reflect on the hardships of the past year. I am proud to introduce a resolution recognizing the significance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Let us fulfill the promise of Rosh Hashanah by working to build a better world for all. I wish all those who celebrate Rosh Hashanah a joyous New Year filled with peace and good health. From my family to yours, Shanah Tovah U’Metukah!”
BACKGROUND: Senator Rosen holds the distinction of being the third female Jewish Senator in U.S. history, as well as the first former synagogue president to serve in the United States Senate.
Last year, Rosen launched the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Anti-Semitism, with co-chair Senator James Lankford (R-OK). The Task Force now includes 38 Senators, with an equal number of Democrats and Republicans.
