Rosen Votes Against Controversial Nominee to Lead the Social Security Administration

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) voted against the nomination of Frank Bisignano to be the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA). According to reports, a whistleblower revealed that Mr. Bisignano has been in contact with Elon Musk’s DOGE operatives about operations at SSA and made key SSA personnel decisions, despite not yet being confirmed until today. Musk’s activity surrounding SSA has resulted in widespread office closures, phone service cutbacks, and layoffs that are putting seniors’ ability to access hard-earned Social Security benefits at risk.

“Nevada seniors have worked hard their entire lives and paid into Social Security. They deserve easy, reliable access to these benefits they’ve earned,” said Senator Rosen. “The Trump Administration and Elon Musk are wreaking havoc in the Social Security Administration, making it harder for seniors to access their benefits. It’s clear that Frank Bisgnano won’t stand up to protect Social Security from the attacks from Trump and Musk, which is why I voted against his nomination.”

Senator Rosen has been fighting back against the Trump Administration’s attempts to go after Social Security. Last month, she joined Senate colleagues in a letter to Leland Dudek, Acting SSA Commissioner, raising major concerns about the agency’s actions to reduce staff, shutter offices, and other changes that will worsen customer service. Recently, Senator Rosen demanded answers from the Acting Social Security Administration Commissioner on the planned relocation of a Social Security office in Las Vegas.
