Rosen Visits Pershing General Hospital in Lovelock

LOVELOCK, NV – While in Lovelock, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) visited Pershing General Hospital and met with hospital staff and local leaders to discuss the health care needs in the community. She also discussed the impact of the upcoming deep cuts to Medicaid, which will leave thousands of Nevadans without health care and reduce funding for  Nevada hospitals by more than $500 million. Senator Rosen was joined by Pershing County Commissioners Connie Gottschalk and Chuck Sayles, Lovelock Mayor Rodney Wilcox, Pershing General Hospital CEO Brandon Chadock, and Nevada Rural Hospital Partners President Blayne Osborn.

“Our hospitals provide critical health care services to families all across our state, particularly in rural communities where health care access can be difficult,” said Senator Rosen. “I visited Pershing General Hospital to discuss the local challenges when it comes to access to medical care and the ways I can continue supporting Nevadans’ health care. I’ll keep fighting for hardworking Nevadans and working to protect their ability to see a doctor and get treatment.”

“It was an honor to meet with Senator Rosen at Pershing General Hospital to discuss the needs and concerns we face in Pershing County, specifically in regard to health care and access to emergency services,” said Pershing County Commissioner Connie Gottschalk. “I am grateful for the opportunity to meet with the Senator and her staff, and look forward to working with them in the future to bring solutions back to our Rural Frontier Communities.”

“The future of frontier rural health care depends on being both nimble and adaptable, and on finding new ways to deliver quality care despite the unique challenges we face,” said Brandon Chadock, CEO of Pershing General Hospital. “At Pershing General Hospital, we are committed to building sustainable models that will serve our community for generations to come, and we value Senator Rosen’s support in that effort.”

Senator Rosen has worked to ensure that rural Nevadans have access to essential health care services. She introduced a bipartisan bill to help increase the number of specialist doctors and other medical specialists in rural communities. She also introduced a bipartisan bill to bring more physicians to underserved areas, including places all over Nevada. Earlier this year, Senator Rosen worked across the aisle to introduce another bipartisan bill that would help curb the nursing shortage in Nevada.
