WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and colleagues in introducing legislation to guarantee universal paid leave for hardworking American families. The FAMILY Act would guarantee up to 12 weeks of partial income for workers who need to take leave for serious medical or family events. Paid medical and family leave is especially beneficial for new parents, caregivers, and those with serious health conditions.
“Families across Nevada deserve the security and peace of mind that comes as a result of access to paid family and medical leave,” said Senator Rosen. “No person should worry about losing their paycheck because of the birth of a child, a serious family situation, or emergency. This bill will give hardworking Nevada families critical support and economic stability when they need it most.”
Senator Rosen has worked consistently to provide sensible health care and senior care solutions for Nevadans. Recently, Rosen introduced bills to lower prescription drug costs for seniors and establish a national advisory committee for long-term care. She’s also recently introduced legislation to expand access to palliative care. Last Congress, she helped introduce a bill to guarantee paid sick leave for workers.
