ICYMI: Rosen Celebrates Groundbreaking for Certified Small Arms Training Range She Secured for Nevada National Guard

HAWTHORNE, NV –  U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined the Nevada Army National Guard last week to celebrate the groundbreaking for Nevada’s first small arms training range, which she secured funding for. Once completed, the range will allow Nevada National Guard members to fulfill their weapons qualification training without having to travel out of state, at greater convenience to the Guardsmen and lower cost to the taxpayer.

  • U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen joined the Nevada Army National Guard to celebrate the groundbreaking of Nevada’s first small arms training range, a project she secured.
  • The new facility will enable Guardsmen to complete weapons qualification training in-state, reducing travel time and taxpayer expenses.
  • “For far too long, the men and women of the Nevada National Guard have been forced to travel hundreds of miles out of state to complete mandatory training every year — wasting their precious time traveling and at a great expense to taxpayers,” Rosen said.
  • Brig. Gen. Randy Lau, Nevada Army National Guard commander, expressed gratitude for the congressional support, stating, “Without them, this would not be possible.”
  • Rosen has also secured funding for other military projects in Nevada, including a $5.4 million fuel cell hangar and nearly $9 million for construction projects.

  • The Nevada Army National Guard hosted their groundbreaking ceremony to begin construction on the Nevada Army National Guard qualification training range.
  • When completed, the range will become the only department of the army approved qualification range in the state of Nevada.
  • “They’re working together, training together. It’s only going to just benefit our community of Hawthorne, our service community, our National Guard, but I would say our entire country,” says Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen, who NV Army National Guard personnel say had a major role in getting the funding necessary for this range.

Anchor: “Today Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen and Congressman Mark Amodei broke ground on the state’s first National Guard small arms training range. The range is at the Hawthorne Army Depot. Once finished, the new range will let Guard members qualify for weapons training without leaving the state. The Guard says it’s sent more than a thousand Guard members out of state for marksmanship training since 2019 and staying in state will save them money.”
