WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen joined MS NOW’s Ana Cabrera to blast President Trump for being out of touch and doing nothing to help lower costs for hardworking families. A recent report from the Joint Economic Committee shows that the average U.S. household had already spent an average of $700 more in the first eight months under President Donald Trump, including nearly $1,000 more for Nevada families — among the highest in the nation.
Several other reports show that prices of foods like chicken, beef, bread, steak, orange juice, lettuce, and potatoes have risen since Trump took office. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Consumer Price Index for grocery store or supermarket food purchases increased 0.4 percent from July 2025 to August 2025 and was 2.7 percent higher than in August 2024. Senator Rosen has introduced a bill to repeal Trump’s tariffs on groceries and help lower costs for families.
Senator Rosen soundbite from the interview:
“Afforability is not a new word. And if you’re a regular person, not a billionaire with all of your billionaire buddies in the cabinet, flying around in your private jets and vacationing on your private yachts, you would understand that when you went to the grocery store, when you went to pay your utility bills, when you went to pay your rent or mortgage, everything is going up and up. When was the last time Donald Trump went to the grocery store? I’d like to know that.”
