WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) sent a letter urging Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to hold a vote on the bipartisan bill to release the Epstein files as soon as the House of Representatives passes it next week. On Wednesday, a discharge petition on the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act successfully received the required number of signatures to force a vote in the House amid efforts by the Trump White House to stop it. This bipartisan bill is expected to get a vote in the House next week, at which point it will be ready for Senate consideration.
“The gravity of the matters addressed by this legislation — and the compelling public interest in the newly released emails regarding Jeffrey Epstein and President Trump — make prompt Senate action both necessary and appropriate,” wrote Senator Rosen. “The recently revealed Epstein correspondence demonstrates the clear connection between the President and Mr. Epstein’s nefarious and profoundly disturbing activities.”
“Last night’s successful discharge of the Epstein Transparency Act provides both chambers the opportunity to address this pressing issue on behalf of the American people,” Senator Rosen continued. “The House of Representatives has now acted decisively to take a major step toward ensuring that the Epstein records are released and can be fully examined. Once their legislation – now required to receive a vote – passes the House with a simple majority vote next week, the Senate must match this effort and schedule prompt floor consideration of the bill to uphold our constitutional duty of oversight and to preserve public trust.”
