Government Shutdown Information

As of October 1, 2025, the federal government has shut down due to a lapse in appropriations.

On September 30, the Republican-controlled Congress failed to pass a government funding bill, and, as a result, the federal government shut down on October 1. Senator Rosen will continue working in the Senate to reopen the government. During this shutdown, our offices remain open in a limited capacity, as we have been informed by legal counsel of the United States Senate that some functions must be temporarily suspended.

Regrettably, we are not able to process tour or flag requests at this time. We may also experience delays in receiving and responding to constituent mail, and assistance with federal agencies may be delayed as staff across the federal government may be reduced significantly.

Senator Rosen and her colleagues are in Washington working to try to reopen the government. Updates will be available on our Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, and Facebook. You can also sign up for Senator Rosen’s newsletters here. Additionally, our offices in Las Vegas, Reno, and Washington will remain open. Agencies and programs across the federal government may be impacted by the Republican shutdown. During a federal government shutdown, only certain essential federal activities deemed excepted may continue. This means that you may experience an interruption in some federal services and programs but not others.
