On One Year Anniversary of House Passage, Rosen Calls for Senate to Vote on H.R. 1

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement commemorating the one year anniversary of the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the For the People Act (H.R. 1), and called on the Senate to take up the bill for a vote.

“For an entire year, H.R. 1 has been sitting on Leader McConnell’s desk, waiting to be brought up for a vote,” said Senator Rosen. “This bill includes sweeping reforms to end political corruption, put an end to big money in politics, make it easier to register to vote, ensure early voting periods, and fight back against gerrymandering. It is past time for the Senate to take up this bill for a vote.”

BACKGROUND: Senator Rosen is a co-sponsor of the For the People Act (S.  949), legislation to expand and protect voting rights, reduce the influence of money in politics, and strengthen ethics rules for government employees.
