Rosen Applauds $18.4 Million in FEMA Funding Awarded to Nevada for Personal Protective Equipment for Essential Workers to Combat the Spread of COVID-19

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement applauding news of a grant totaling $18,418,094.93 awarded to Nevada by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to be used to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) for essential workers statewide to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“The need for PPE has become more important than ever as we work to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Nevada,” said Senator Rosen. “Essential workers are providing critical and much needed services in order to keep our state operational and we must ensure that they have the proper equipment to remain safe at work. As we continue to address this global crisis, I will continue working to protect the health and well-being of all Nevadans.”

BACKGROUND: This grant funding was made available through the bipartisan Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which Senator Rosen voted in support of, and was signed into law on March 27, 2020.

Specifically, this federal award will fund the Public Assistance Program to combat COVID-19 in Nevada.
