WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), announced that she has joined the Subcommittee on Airland, the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, and the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces.
“Nevada is the proud home to multiple critically important military bases and installations where we conduct the training and operations essential to the success of our armed forces,” said Senator Rosen. “As a member of these three subcommittees, I will be better able to help fortify our nation’s cybersecurity infrastructure, sustain the Army and Air Force’s operations and programs, advocate for Nevada’s National Guard, and support the Nevada National Security Site’s mission to ensure that that the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile remains safe, secure, and reliable. I look forward to working with my colleagues to strengthen Nevada’s role in keeping our nation safe.”
BACKGROUND: The Subcommittee on Airland holds jurisdiction over Army, Air Force, and National Guard planning and operations policy and programs, including at Nevada’s Nellis Air Force Base, Creech Air Force Base, and Hawthorne Army Depot, and the Nevada Army and Air National Guard.
The Subcommittee on Cybersecurity holds jurisdiction over the Department of Defense’s cyber-related policies and programs.
The Subcommittee on Strategic Forces holds jurisdiction over nuclear and strategic forces, arms control and non-proliferation programs, ballistic missile defense, space programs, and the Department of Energy defense nuclear, and defense environmental management programs, which includes the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Nevada National Security Site.
