Rosen Joins Bipartisan Climate Caucus in the Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that she has joined the recently-formed bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus. The caucus brings together an equal number of Republicans and Democrats to craft and advance bipartisan solutions to address climate change. The Senate Climate Solutions Caucus meets regularly and convenes experts from across the political spectrum and private sector to seek common ground and craft bipartisan solutions. The caucus operates by the principle of unanimous consent, acting only when each member agrees.

“Our national security, economy, and well-being are all at risk because of the real threat of climate change,” said Senator Rosen. “We can no long afford to wait. Together, we must take serious, bipartisan action to address this very real challenge. This caucus is a promising step in the right direction, and I look forward to working across the aisle to find solutions to this urgent issue.”

BACKGROUND: Recognizing the real threat of climate change to our health, economy and national security, in November 2019 Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) and Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) launched the first-ever bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus.

Earlier this week, Senator Rosen helped introduce the Clean Economy Act, legislation that would require the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement policies that will help the United States achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, as well as boost American competitiveness, promote healthier communities, and foster a growing and fair economy. Last year, Senator Rosen helped introduced the International Climate Accountability Act, bipartisan legislation that would prevent the President from using funds to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord and instead direct the Administration to develop a strategic plan for the United States to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
