Rosen Joins Bipartisan Legislation to Ban Russian Energy Imports

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced she is co-sponsoring the bipartisan Ban Russian Energy Imports Act which would prohibit the importation of Russian crude oil, petroleum, petroleum products, liquefied natural gas, and coal.

“The entire world is watching in horror as Vladimir Putin wages a cruel and unprovoked war on Ukraine,” said Senator Rosen. “The United States must stand firm against Putin, and that includes crippling Russia’s economy by cutting off energy imports. I am supporting bipartisan legislation that immediately prohibits Russian energy imports because we cannot continue buying Russian oil to fund Putin’s brutality in Ukraine.”

Senator Rosen has been a leader in opposing Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. She is a co-sponsor of the Defending Ukraine Sovereignty Act and voted in favor of sanctions targeting Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline. In addition, Senator Rosen is a co-sponsor of a bipartisan Senate resolution supporting an independent and democratic Ukraine against Russian military aggression, which passed the Senate unanimously.
