Rosen Votes to Advance Cabinet Nominations of Cardona and Walsh

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), voted to advance the nominations of Dr. Miguel Cardona for Secretary of Education and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh for Secretary of Labor.

“Today, I voted to advance the nominations of Dr. Miguel Cardona and Mayor Marty Walsh from the HELP committee,” said Senator Rosen. “As we work to overcome the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical that we have competent and experienced leadership in place to take our nation in a positive direction. Dr. Cardona is well qualified to lead the Department of Education and will be a fierce advocate for our students, educators, and schools. Similarly, Mayor Walsh will take bold action to lift up our nation’s workers and ensure they are treated fairly. I urge my colleagues to quickly confirm these nominees so that they can get to work serving the American people during this challenging time.”

BACKGROUND: Last week, during a hearing of the Senate HELP Committee, Senator Rosen questioned Dr. Miguel Cardona about support for STEM and Career and Technical Education (CTE), as well as the need for mental health resources for students.
