WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), released the following statement after voting to confirm the historic nomination of Xavier Becerra to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):
“Today, I was proud to vote in support of the historic confirmation of Xavier Becerra as the Secretary of Health and Human Services,” said Senator Rosen. “As a former senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Becerra was influential in navigating the rollout and implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and continued working to protect the ACA as Attorney General of California. Xavier Becerra has repeatedly defended our nation’s health care law, and as HHS Secretary, he will be just as fierce a defender of the public’s health. As the first Latino to lead this agency, he will be instrumental in ensuring relief is sent to communities most affected by the pandemic, particularly minority and rural communities. I look forward to working with Secretary Becerra to increase the number of vaccines available to Americans, defend the ACA and its protections for those with pre-existing conditions, and to protect the health and well-being of Nevada families.”

Como Secretario del HHS, estoy segura que Xavier será un defensor de la salud pública.
