Rosen, Cortez Masto Speak on Senate Floor on the Anniversary of 1 October Shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) delivered remarks on the Senate floor commemorating the two year anniversary of the Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting. In their remarks, the Senators reflected on the tragedy and honored the 58 innocent people who were killed and hundreds more that were injured in Las Vegas at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on October 1st, 2017.

“The 1 October shooting forever altered the lives of countless families in Las Vegas and families across the country. Many are still grieving and are enduring pain that no family, friend, spouse, or child should ever have to face,” said Senator Rosen. “I join our nation in remembering the victims and their loved ones on this day. We were not then, nor will we ever be shattered. The bright lights of Las Vegas will continue to shine through the darkness of that day. We are resilient and we will always be Vegas strong.”

“We made a commitment to all those caught up in the devastating attack at the Route 91 festival, a promise I honor again today,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “I vowed to do all I could to help my community heal, to remember those who died, to support those who bear scars of the body or of the spirit. During that dark time two years ago, my city came together to help and sustain the wounded and their families—people from all over the world, neighbors and strangers alike. I’ve never been prouder of Las Vegas.”
