WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement upon news of being awarded a 2019 Defender of Children by the First Focus Campaign for Children. Senator Rosen received this bipartisan award for making children a top priority in Congress.
“Our children need defenders in Congress, now more than ever,” said Senator Rosen. “I’m honored to be recognized as a 2019 Defender of Children by First Focus Campaign for Children. I will continue championing policies that keep our children healthy by defending the Affordable Care Act and our families together by standing up for our immigrant communities in Nevada and across the country. I am proud to help invest in our children’s education by passing legislation like my bipartisan Building Blocks of STEM Act, that prioritizes our children’s education and gives them the tools to succeed in the 21st century. We must be bold and take these actions because a true character of a society is revealed in how we treat our children.”
BACKGROUND: Senator Rosen was one of 40 Senators to be awarded this honor for her work in Congress in 2019. Senator Rosen was also awarded the Champion for Children Award in 2017 and 2018.
