Rosen Joins Vice President Harris to Visit Carpenters International Training Center

During their Visit, Senator Rosen and Vice President Harris Highlighted Successful Recovery Efforts, Need for Nevadans to Get Vaccinated, Support for Nevada Workers and American Infrastructure Investments

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, joined Vice President Kamala Harris to visit the Carpenters International Training Center – a world-class facility, designed and constructed by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters to develop and improve the skills of its members. During the visit, Senator Rosen and Vice President Harris highlighted the work done by the Biden Administration and Congress to help ensure a successful recovery from COVID-19 and the need to get vaccinated. Senator Rosen and Vice President Harris also discussed their support for workers and the need for bold, comprehensive investments in American infrastructure.

Nevada runs because of our state’s workers – union workers – and what the United Brotherhood of Carpenters has built here is truly incredible. They created this center because they are committed to building – building up the skills of their members, building up our state’s workforce, and building Nevada to new heights,” said Senator Rosen. “We have all faced hardships over the past year, and COVID-19 has been especially hard for our state, and our workers. I recognize that union workers have been at the forefront of our response during the pandemic; and Vice President Harris and I want Nevadans to know that help is on the way.”

“The Biden-Harris Administration, and my colleagues and I in Congress, are making strides to get Nevada families back to work, get Nevada kids back to school, and get Nevada businesses back open,” Senator Rosen continued. “We’re doing this by working to get vaccines to as many people as possible. This is the way we come roaring back, by getting vaccinated.  It is free, it is safe, and it is the most important thing that we can do to help Nevada and our nation recover.”

“Whether we’re pushing back against this pandemic, expanding workers’ rights, bringing visitors back to the Silver State, or making a once-in-a-generation investment in our infrastructure, we’re working to build Nevada back better. Now, let’s get to work,” Senator Rosen concluded.

BACKGROUND: Earlier this year, Senator Rosen voted for, Congress passed, and President Biden signed into law the American Rescue Plan Act, the benefits of which are still being felt today. The American Rescue Plan included direct relief to Americans, support for vaccine research and distribution, and assistance for small businesses, schools, and communities to endure the pandemic and reopen.

Rosen is a co-sponsor of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, legislation which would strengthen federal protections for workers’ right to organize and bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions.
