LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) participated in a roundtable with Latino leaders at Chicanos Por La Causa in Las Vegas, where she discussed a range of issues that are top of mind for the community and discussed her work to support Latinos across Nevada. The Latino leaders joining Senator Rosen included representatives from labor, small business, environmental advocacy, and the health care, education, and housing sectors.

“I want to thank the Latino leaders who joined me today for sharing their perspective on important issues facing the Latino community,” said Senator Rosen. “From lowering costs to creating good-paying union jobs and supporting our small businesses, I’m working every day to ensure that Latino families in Nevada have the resources and tools to thrive.”

“Addressing the issues impacting Latinos must be a top priority,” said Rupert Ruiz, President of Chicanos Por La Causa Nevada. “We appreciate having Senator Rosen meet with us today to hear from Las Vegas’ Latino community members about the issues we are facing, discuss her work in the Senate to address them, and find solutions that uplift all Nevadans.”

“Senator Jacky Rosen has been a champion for unions — which includes many members of Nevada’s Latino community,” said Susie Martinez, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of Nevada AFL-CIO. “Together, we’re making sure that Latino families are supported and that hardworking men and women — no matter their backgrounds — have the protections and resources they need to thrive in the workplace.”

Senator Rosen has been a fighter for Nevada’s Latino communities. Last year, she introduced two pieces of legislation that would provide additional support to Latino-owned and other minority-owned businesses impacted by COVID, and increase opportunities for Latino student business ownership and entrepreneurship through a Minority Entrepreneurship Grant Program. Senator Rosen also successfully secured over $1 million in grant funding to expand programs and student support at two of Nevada’s Hispanic-Serving Institutions: the College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State College.
