Rosen Applauds Expansion of Affordable Health Care Access for DACA Recipients

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) applauded news that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will expand Medicaid and Affordable Care Act coverage to include DACA recipients.

“The thousands of DACA recipients living, working, paying taxes, and raising families in Nevada deserve access to affordable, quality health care coverage like everyone else. Thanks to today’s announcement, Dreamers are eligible for Medicaid and Affordable Care Act coverage, joining the millions of people who have used these programs to find quality, affordable health care,” said Senator Rosen. “While this will provide much-needed peace of mind, we must also continue fighting to find a permanent legislative solution to protecting our Dreamers. I will continue working to support Nevada’s DACA recipients, and ensure they have the support they need to thrive in this country.”

Senator Rosen has been a leader in the fight for comprehensive immigration reform and protecting Dreamers. In December, Senator Rosen spoke on the Senate floor about the urgent need to pass comprehensive immigration reform. Previously, Senator Rosen has called for a legislative fix to protect DACA recipients. She also helped introduce the Children’s Safe Welcome Act, a bicameral bill to protect immigrant children in government custody. Senator Rosen is also committed to improving access to affordable, quality health care. Earlier this year, Senator Rosen introduced multiple bipartisan bills to address the shortage of doctors, dentists and other medical professionals in rural communities.
