Senator Rosen Visits Las Vegas Solar Manufacturing Company to Celebrate First Year of the Inflation Reduction Act

Thanks To The Inflation Reduction Act That Senator Rosen Helped Pass, Unimacts Solar Manufacturing Moved Production Back To The United States From Countries Like China And Mexico

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, to mark the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act that she helped pass, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) visited Unimacts, a clean energy manufacturing company in Las Vegas that has directly benefited from this historic law. As a result of the Rosen-backed law, Unimacts has been able to move their production out of China and Mexico and back into the United States.

In just the first year of the IRA becoming law, investments in wind, solar, and geothermal energy development; battery and electric vehicle manufacturing; and energy storage projects have created more than 11,500 good-paying clean jobs in Nevada – with 40,000 more jobs projected to be created over the next 10 years.

“Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act I helped pass one year ago, clean energy companies across Nevada are getting the resources and incentives they need to continue leading our clean energy transition, strengthening our economy and creating good-paying jobs” said Senator Rosen. “Today, I visited Unimacts to see firsthand how a Las Vegas company is benefiting from the clean energy incentives included in the IRA and using them to bring jobs back to the United States from countries like China and Mexico. I’ll always support Nevada’s clean energy economy and the jobs it creates.”

“Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, our solar company has been able to invest further in local manufacturing.” said Matt Arnold, CEO of Unimacts. “We thank Senator Rosen for her work in helping pass this important legislation which has allowed our business to expand and create additional jobs here in Nevada.”

“Thanks to the President’s clean energy plan I have hope for a cleaner, healthier, and safer future for my family and everyone” said Ben Bryce, Senior Manager for State Affairs in the Southwest Region for Environmental Defense Fund. “We stand at the vanguard of innovation here in Nevada as clean energy jobs are zooming ahead and putting the Silver State’s economy in the driver’s seat. The Inflation Reduction Act is a game-changer as it leverages private investment that will reduce harmful pollution, improve health outcomes, lower energy bills and make us more energy secure.”

Senator Rosen has been a champion for Nevada’s clean energy industry. For the last two years, Senator Rosen sent a letter urging Senate appropriators to fund the Department of Energy’s Geothermal Technologies Office to support a reliable, clean energy source for the United States that would allow the country to secure its energy grid. Senator Rosen has also been a leader in supporting the solar energy industry. Last year, following Senator Rosen’s efforts, the Biden Administration announced a two-year suspension of solar tariffs that could have killed American jobs and increased solar costs, in addition to a new plan to use the Defense Production Act to boost domestic solar manufacturing.
