In Wake of Deadly Hamas Terrorist Attack, Rosen Calls for Action to Help Israel Defend Itself

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement calling for action in response to Hamas’ deadly terrorist attack on Israel.

“For two days now, Nevadans and people across our nation have woken up with heavy hearts. The brutal and unprovoked terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas has killed hundreds of innocent civilians and soldiers, injured thousands, and left countless families grieving for loved ones who’ve been kidnapped – including children and seniors. These hostages must be freed and returned to their families immediately.

“I unequivocally condemn this appalling assault on the Israeli people. The United States stands firmly with Israel and its absolute right to defend itself. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I’ll work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure Israel has the resources and tools needed to protect its people, reunite families, rescue those held captive including Americans, and hold Iranian-backed Hamas accountable. We must approve supplemental funding for Israel’s defense, replenish its Iron Dome missile defense system, provide it with the defense capabilities it needs, and swiftly confirm Secretary Jack Lew as Ambassador to Israel. This is a moment for decisive action, not politics.

“This vile assault came during one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar and 50 years since the Yom Kippur War, in a clear attempt to inflict the most pain. Our hearts are shattered, and we are keeping the Israeli people in our thoughts.”
