Retired Sergeant First Class Thomas Koehler bravely served our nation in Iraq and Afghanistan, sustaining combat injuries during his time in uniform. He continued his service even after he retired by supporting our veterans in Southern Nevada.
SFC Koehler reached out to my office to help secure the Purple Heart he earned after years of delay, and I’m so proud that my team and I were able to do so in less than two months. It was my honor to present SFC Koehler with his Purple Heart last week.

My heart is broken at the news that LVMPD Officer and Marine veteran Austin Abdelnabi was killed in the line of duty last night. I’m keeping Officer Abdelnabi's loved ones and fellow officers in my thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
