It’s a tremendous honor to represent the hundreds of thousands of veterans who call Nevada home, which is why I’ve long fought to ensure that they receive the benefits and recognition they’ve earned.
Two weeks ago, my team attended the dedication ceremony for Nevada’s first-ever national veterans cemetery in Elko. The cemetery’s completion represents our strong commitment to rural veterans and their families, who will no longer have to travel hours in order to access a final resting place that honors service to this great country. I was immensely proud to help secure the funding to complete this project, and I’m glad to see it cross the finish line.

Artificial intelligence has extraordinary potential to solve complex problems across sectors, contribute to scientific breakthroughs, and improve humans’ quality of life. At the same time, this powerful technology can have the power to cause catastrophic damages if we don’t act to impose guardrails and safety mechanisms.
Congress must do everything in its power to ensure the American AI industry continues to lead, particularly outcompeting China, and also enact increased guardrails to ensure AI development is progressing in a safe and responsible manner.
This is why I’m calling on Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz to immediately hold a hearing on this matter with the top executives of American leading AI companies.
