It was truly an honor to host this year’s Tahoe Summit and carry on the legacy of Senators Harry Reid and Dianne Feinstein. This event is a reminder that there’s nothing we can’t accomplish when leaders of both parties across all levels of government and conservation experts come together under one shared purpose. The health of Lake Tahoe is a true testament of how strong this partnership has been over the last 30 years.

As we face new challenges in our conservation efforts, I’m going to keep working across the aisle and states to make sure we don’t lose this jewel of the Sierra Nevada.

I’m extremely troubled by reports showing 300 American sailors spent FOUR days on the USS Benfold while it lacked drinkable water, meal service, running toilets, or air conditioning in the sweltering heat of the South China Sea.

This comes at a time when we are hearing about the poor conditions our sailors have had to endure aboard the USS Lincoln in the Middle East.

The men and women who serve our country deserve better. The U.S. Navy must provide answers about what they're doing to improve these conditions and make sure they don't happen again.A US Navy guided-missile destroyer spent four days last month without working toilets, galley services and air conditioning in the blistering heat of the South China Sea after the warship lost power. cnn.it/4qraREc
