Miss Ruby Duncan devoted her life to advocating for families in need. With the organization she founded, Operation Life, she led an impactful protest on the Las Vegas Strip that pressured the state to reverse cuts to critical social programs and worked to bring resources and opportunity to the Historic Westside, including the neighborhood’s first library.
I’m honored to have known Miss Ruby and am thinking of her family and loved ones as we mourn her passing and celebrate her incredible life. Her legacy is proof that when you care about your community and fight for it, you can make a real difference and lasting impact.

When Nevadans go to the grocery store, prices should be the same for everyone. But some big corporations have been accused of using data they’ve collected on people to set individualized prices – meaning an algorithm could charge you and I different prices for the same shopping cart. How is that fair?
I pressed the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission for answers on this abusive practice and asked for their commitment to crack down on companies using this practice called “surveillance pricing.”
