WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), released the following statement applauding the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for awarding $300,000 to the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. The grant will help the Alliance provide one-on-one outreach and education, marketing, webinars, and critical COVID recovery programming to Southern Nevada employers negatively impacted by COVID-19 as a part of the COVID-19 Recovery and Resiliency Project.
“COVID-19 has taken a toll on Nevada, and our workforce in particular has felt the pandemic’s devastating effects,” said Senator Rosen. “I am glad to see the Economic Development Administration has designated Clark County, Nevada as an Opportunity Zone and provided funding that will save up to 6,000 jobs in our great state. This grant, awarded to the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, will advance economic resiliency through targeted business outreach and recovery and rehiring assistance to employers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Targeting outreach to employers in Clark County will help them rehire and support workers, and move Nevada forward as the country recovers from this public health and economic crisis.”
BACKGROUND: This grant, provided by the EDA, is part of a larger program mandated under the CARES Act that authorized $1.5 billion to assist with economic development assistance programs, which help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.
