Statement from Senator Jacky Rosen’s Office Regarding Absence from the Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the office of U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement regarding Senator Rosen’s missed votes this afternoon:

“Senator Rosen regrets that she was not able to travel to Washington, D.C. this week for votes. She is at home in Las Vegas following doctor’s orders, recovering from an injury she sustained during the MLK parade this past Monday in Las Vegas. The Senator is in good spirits and looks forward to returning to work next week,” said Rosen’s spokesperson, Jorge Silva.

BACKGROUND: The final vote for the Shelby Amendment #5 was 50-47 and the final vote for the Schumer Amendment #6 was 52-44. The Senator submitted the following explanation for the Congressional Record:

Madame President, on January 24th I was not present due to an injury sustained on January 21st and a resulting surgery from which I am still recovering. Had I been present, I would have voted YEA on roll call vote 8 (Motion for Attendance) and roll call vote 10 (Schumer Amendment #6). I would have voted NAY on roll call vote 9 (Shelby Amendment #5).
